Combed to Perfection: Top Hair Beauty For Summer 2011

by

Hear ye! Hear ye! It is by decree of the Masters of Hairstyles that I present to you the two key hair trends for Summer 2011.

Summer is finally here. And what a better moment to get in the know about the hottest Summer hair trends. So I decided to take a closer look at the key hairstyles for  Summer 2011, so that you don’t have to.

I love keeping myself up to date with the latest hairstyles and hair trends, and I have my resources to do so. And what a better source to get my information from than the London catwalks, where most trends originate.

Giles: Wavy and cool

Upon starting my investigation I was mainly looking at many high street brands such as H&M, French Connection, Mango, Warehouse, River Island, New Look, Dorothy Perkins, Monsoon and many others,  as usually I tend to find the best inspiration from the latter. But this time I actually spotted the best Summer 2011 hair trends from the catwalks of more high-end brands such as Giles, Anna Sui, Oscar de la Renta and  Caroline Charles, to name but a few.

So what was the conclusion of my investigation? I could clearly spot a theme on many of the 2011 catwalks, and I was thereby able to narrow it down to two key looks. One is the 70’s inspired look and the other is  the Audrey Hepburn-look with a modern twist. Let’s take a closer look.

The 70’s Show

What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of 70’s hair? It’s gotta be the “messy and cool, super-natural hippie-look”, right? This is a hair trend that could seen on loads of catwalks. And as it is the season to look hippie, why not go all the way, hair and everything. That’s the key to nail the look.

Topshop Unique: A frizzy mess

Charlotte Ronson

Anna Sui: Carefree and loose

Marc Jacobs: Big and beautiful

Model Abbey Lee Kershaw swears by hippie rules

The modern-day Audrey Hepburn

Another key hairstyle for the season is the Audrey Hepburn inspired up-do. Ms Hepburn has been the ambassador of style for as long we can remember and we are definitely feeling her presence in 2011. Her beauty and style has been a huge inspiration for countless designers  and stylists around the world. And today we get to see how the mix of the old with the new takes the Hepburn-look onto a new level, while staying truthful to the style of the past.  And by the looks of this seasons’ catwalks, it’s obvious where many designers have drawn their inspiration from.

Issa: Keep it up!

Caroline Charles: Romantic

Oscar de la Renta: Pulled tight

Jean Paul Gaultier: Audrey Hepburn up-do exaggerated

ADAM: Top knotch!

Natalie Portman nails the Audrey Hepburn up-do

So what do you think about this Summer’s top hair trends? Feeling inspired? Have fun! 😉
