ModelManagement: Where? when? why? Did you get your first camera?
Manuel Castro: I got one of those nice and cheap Franka’s to play with probably around my 10th birthday. My uncle was a great photographer and I always loved cameras and photos. I grew up surrounded by a boundless artistic environment!
MM: Favourite type of photography?
MC: Portraits, for sure.
MM: If you could photograph any one, dead or alive, who would it be? and how would the shoot be?
MC: Scarlett Johansson, in a casual lifestyle mood with that backstage ambience of Festival de Cannes. Natural lightning, no over-productions and probably by the sea.
MM: Give us a tip about photography!
MC: More than just sit home and reading super-technical online forums. I think a photographer should go to art exhibits, flick through photography books, read magazines with great editorial photos and get connected with the history of photography and art.
MM: The World’s best photographer is…?
MC: I don’t know who’s the best but I’m a great fan of Terry Richardson’s work.
MM: The best fashion model is…?
MC: Adriana Lima.
MM: If you could shoot in any location in the world, where and what would it be?
MC: A walk through the amazing light of two cities: Lisbon streets by day and Tokyo’s by night.
