Kendall Jenner covers Vogue India’s 10th-anniversary issue with direction from legendary fashion photographer, Mario Testino. Testino showcases his array of abilities in this his 12th Vogue takeover to-date by not just photographing the editorials but also starring as guest editor and creative director for the special anniversary edition of Vogue India.
”It’s the people, the art, the colors, the elephants and everything in between. I wanted to bring my world to this amazing nation by shooting this issue in India. I wanted it to stay true to the Indian spirit.”- Mario Testino
The issue blends international fashion with traditional Indian culture. The cover shoot features Kendall Jenner posing against a patterned wall in Jaipur’s Samode Palace in a spectacular lace dress by Saint Laurent. Turn the page and inside you’ll find fashion stories including both local and international models posing in Jaipur’s colourful street celebrations and palatial weddings. The issue features a grand total of six fashion editorials each offering much to be admired! Kendall may be the cover model, but this issue also features Bollywood royalty, Katrina Kaif, and Sushant Singh Rajput and captures the essence of extravagant Indian celebrations. Over the past ten years, we’ve received only the best editorials from the top publication and this issue doesn’t disappoint, though the choice of cover model has caused much debate across social media.
Vogue India will only be selling a limited run of 500 prints from the shoot to support local charity Girl Rising India. The chosen shot features Jenner in Samode Palace, with each print hand-numbered and sold online. The editor of Vogue India, Priya Tanna, says that the collaboration has been too incredible that the May issue of Vogue India is undoubtedly a collector’s special.
