In the Spirit of Summer: Scarves and Headbands

Valentin Yudashkin SS 2011

I’m really getting into the summer mode. The weather is getting warmer and the sun can’t stop shining. Loving it! So, what better moment to try out this summer’s hottest  must-have fashion accessory: A scarf. And once I started wrapping scarves around my head as part of my outfit, I just haven’t been able to get enough of them.

As you might have noticed by now, I’m always trying to discover cool new trends, and I keep my eyes and ears open for what’s happening on the fashion scene on the catwalks as well as on the street. And all I’m seeing and hearing is scarves, scarves, scarves. Many of my personal favourite fashion designers have been showing scarves in their Summer 2011 collections. No doubt that’s why this trends seems to be spreading like wildfire.

Scarves come in handy for two purposes: They are a great way to cover your head from the damaging effects of the sun, but not just that, they can prove a genius way to change an ordinary outfit into something a bit more extraordinary. And while the reasons for wearing the scarf can be left unspoken, what remains is that you’ve made it look like a thought-through fashion accessory.

After some trial and error, I’ve come realize that a scarf or a headband can really transform any look from dire to dandy in no time. Even more so, I think scarves are fun, playful and different.  And the best part is that you can customize your look by utilizing your favorite scarves and by that, mix and match a look from head to toe, literally. I know a scarf is not for everyone, but if you have what it takes to pull off this bold fashion statement, then go for it. Join the rest of us scarvesters! 😉
