Solveiga Mykolaityte is a beautiful Lithuanian Professional Model who has been featured in several fashion campaigns and magazine covers such as Vogue and FHM. Modeling in Milan, New York, Paris, London, Roma, Copenhagen, Berlin, Madrid, and Morocco amongst others has helped her become a successful model both online & offline!
Solveiga shares with us her experience in the fashion world since she started as a manager in a modelling agency. Check out what she has to tell you about the modeling world and get some great tips from this interview!
Model Management: Can you tell us about your beginnings in the Modeling industry?
Solveiga Mykolaityte: My beginnings in the modeling industry where quite late. I started my serious modelling career only after I finished my studies. Milan was the first city I chose for my career as a model. Then I travelled a lot. I’ve lived in Paris, London and NY. And lately I spend most of my modelling time in NY.
MM: Being a Model with over 57,000 fans on Facebook alone must be really gratifying, how does Social Media influence in your work?
SM: Of course it’s gratifying but the numbers are not my main aim. My main goal is to meet proper people to improve my work. And taking part in Social Media seems to be successful. It helps me with my work. I am happy to see all the people who appreciate my work.
MM: You have been listed in “Lithuanian Top Model” website; can you briefly tell us about this project?
SM: This project is very new in Lithuania. It’s going to start with new projects and beauty contests already in 2014. Lithuanian Top Model will work as a model agency as well.
MM: You have been featured in magazines & campaigns and travelled around the world working abroad in cities such as New York. Can you tell us a campaign you really enjoyed being part of? And how is the experience of living in NY as a model?
SM: All shoots, magazines, campaigns that I have done have provided me a lot of experience, but what I enjoy the most are the projects that take place in some exotic locations such as Morocco, Brazil, Israel, Philippines , Dominican Republic and other St. Bart’s Tropic Islands.
Sometimes the nature can astonish you with its wild and extreme beauty. But you must never forget that it can be both dangerous and beautiful at the same time.
I love life in N.Y; the city is always in action full of active and talented people. The atmosphere in New York can fill you up with such a great energy. It’s a very big competition for models here. But if a model has all standards needed and is sociable, has good personality and is talented, New York can be the best place to improve oneself and reach ones goals.
MM: Did you start your modeling career in Lithuania? Can you briefly tell us about the Modeling industry in your country?
SM: I started my modelling career in Lithuania when I began to work as a manager in a model agency that organized international beauty contests. I’ve got some experience and had received invitation to try to work as a model in Milan. It was the first step in my career. I left after my studies. Lithuania is full of girls who have very good model standards, but there is no market of modeling, one cannot make a living while modeling in Lithuania. It can be like a hobby. If you are willing to have a model career abroad, Lithuania can be a start and the place to get some experience to built your portfolio and after that go abroad for a serious job. Unfortunately most of the girls don’t embrace themselves for leaving abroad to work as models because it’s a hard work out there.
MM: After building a successful Modeling career for sure you have learned a lot on the way, could you give 1 or 2 tips to aspiring models that are willing to follow your steps?
SM: You should choose the right people around you and always believe in what you are doing.
MM:What is your opinion about an online platform such as ModelManagement.com that gives the opportunity to models to build their career through fashion and modeling contacts and castings?
SM: I am happy to be part of Model Management. It’s a very good opportunity for models, photographers, agencies etc. to find each other. Knowing your platforms popularity and success all around the World I believe that in the nearest future more and more models will reach their dream with ModelManagement.com!
MM: Any personal thoughts on our Fresh Faces 2013 modelling contest?
SM: I would like to wish success and all the best to all participants. This contest will help somebody to reach his or her dream.
