I tried modeling on several occasions as a teen. On occasion in particular, I was told by my makeup dresser that I have naturally great facial features but my acne held me back from my full potential. At age 13, I was discouraged from modeling because of my acne. Upon being told this, I swore that I would take care of my acne and when the time came, I would give modeling a second chance-the time has come!
My name is Rylee Donovan. I am a nursing major attending West Virginia Wesleyan college, a junior ivy league in the hills of West Virginia. I am looking to transfer to Wright State University this coming semester (January 2015). My acceptance into Wesleyan was not because of my outstanding grades or test scores, but my ability to play women's lacrosse. I was scouted at a tournament in North Carolina (the last tournament of my senior year) and was contacted by numbers of colleges. After sorting these colleges, I decided on a private school that I now call home.
I am originally from Detroit, Michigan where I lived with my mom, dad, dog and cat. I got into modeling when my parents bought a building next to Sam T'ang Studios. Sam soon became a close friend of ours. At first, I was interested in his collection of old cameras he had displayed but my attention shifted from the cameras to the beautiful pageant women that were displayed in 8X10 frames- I became obsessed with their beauty. I started experimenting with makeup and modeling with Sam and his Miss. Alaska girlfriend at the time. I became comfortable in front of the camera and was fascinated with the outcome of my photos. My personal modeling book isn't very big but hopefully, I will be able to expand it with the help of a new Sam or Miss Alaska.
