Fashion is one of the main players in the modeling industry. It can be fascinating and glamorous, but if we pay attention not everything is as good as it may seem.

According to Business Insider, the fashion industry emits more carbon than international flights and maritime shipping combined. With the fast fashion business, most of the brands are constantly making new garments, so they can offer their clients new products every week, non-stop. And since they offer low-quality products at affordable prices, clients prioritize quantity over quality. This consuming circle is detrimental to the environment, whose natural resources are being negatively affected by this trend.

Fashion production makes up 10% of humanity’s carbon emissions, dries up water sources, and pollutes rivers and streams. 85% of all textiles go to the dump each year. And washing some types of clothes sends thousands of bits of plastic into the ocean.

What’s more, washing clothes, meanwhile, releases 500,000 tons of microfibers into the ocean each year — the equivalent of 50 billion plastic bottles. And a 2017 report from the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) estimated that 35% of all microplastics in the ocean came from the laundering of synthetic textiles like polyester.

A Tree For Every Premium Membership

To compensate for the negative impact that the fashion industry has on the environment and commit to drive a positive change, we’re joining the program Trees for the seas by Click a Tree. With this, for every premium membership purchase, a tree will be planted. And not just that, but also for every tree planted, 1kg of plastic will be removed from the oceans.

The program Trees For The Seas

The program Trees for the seas takes care of planting mangrove trees on the Philippines’ South and Madagascar’s West Coast. Trees play a vital role to preserve marine wildlife and mangrove trees filter water and offer habitat for a myriad of small marine wildlife such as fish and crabs.

Mangrove trees also prevent soil erosion in coastal areas and have proven the most efficient barrier between seas and land, e.g. in case of tsunamis. Furthermore, mangrove trees are amongst the most efficient trees for carbon dioxide absorption.

Along with this, Click a Tree makes sure the local communities who are involved in the trees planting earn a full-time fair wage.

How does it work?

Per every purchase that’s done on ModelManagement.com with a promo code, we will be planting a tree together with Click a Tree. Users will get a discount and we will allocate part of the benefits to cover the tree planting cost.

So if you want to join our community and contribute to the cause, you can use this code TREESxSEAS20 to get 20% off and help us plant a tree and remove plastic from the ocean. Let’s make this world a better place to live in together.
